Nice job, Wannstedt.
Maybe you can put these excerpts from the CBS Sportsline game log on your resume:
“A trick play looks like it woke up the Bowling Green offense.”
(one minute later) “Bowling Green’s leading receiver from last year, Freddie Barnes just tossed the the teams first touchdown of the season. Another trick play fools the Pitt defense and a easy toss gives Bowling Green their first seven of the season”
(six minutes later) “Pitt somehow gets fooled again on a pass by Freddie Barnes leaving the ball on the one.”
(nine minutes later) “In what could be an important play in this game at the 50, Bowling Green had a few inches for a first down and on a sweep that looked like it surprised Pitt, Bowling Green converts with no problem keeping the drive alive.”
(three minutes later) “On exactly 3rd and an inch Bowling Green brings in Anthony Turner at QB. With just a simple roll out to the right he is able to fight his way into the endzone to give Bowling Green their first lead of this game. Pitt just can’t figure out what to do when Bowling Green uses a different look.”
(seven minutes later) “On a designed QB run Tyler Sheehan runs it in untouched.”
“Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt decided instaed of using his timeouts, he decided he wanted to sit on the ball and kick a field goal to put his team ahead 3 at the half.”
“Rushing the ball with LeSean McCoy was very effective early on, hopefully Wannstedt goes back to it.”
“It has been hard to watch Pitt on offense in the second half. It has been a mixture of bad passes and dropped balls.”
“137 to 92 to 34 yards in each quarter spells what has happened in this game. Pitt looked like they were going to run away with this one and then they started falling apart like pieces of a puzzle.”
“Maybe now they will finally go back to McCoy.”
“Not sure what Wannstedt was thinking. His team is only down by 10 point with 9 minutes on the clock and three timeouts but he decides to force his offense to try and do something that they have had very little success with today, get yards.”
“Wannstedt is going to have to go back to the drawing board and rethink things before he starts conference play, like finding different ways to get the ball into LeSean McCoy hands.”
“On a positive note he still has a wonderful mustache.”
