The tagline pretty much sums up what this blog IS about: “The unfairness, inefficiency, greed, and stupidity of the college football bowl system.”
In light of how attempts to discuss college football usually end up, I would like to point out precisely what this blog is NOT about, what I won’t write about, and what I don’t want to read comments about:
- The BCS rankings. There are 32 bowl games, most of which have nothing to do with the national championship, or even conference championships. If you want an in-depth discussion of who’s going to play in the national title game, turn on ESPN and wait 45 seconds. Any discussion of the BCS here will be limited to its impact on the other bowl games. As we shall see, it has a lot of negative influences that nobody ever talks about.
- The need for a playoff system in major college football. We’re not getting one. Stop asking. And stop saying DURR WE NEED A PLAYOFF if this were some brilliant, never-before-uttered observation. The bowl system is what we have, so let’s find ways to make it better for all concerned.
- “My conference can beat up your conference” pissing contests. Is there anything more tedious than a conference superiority debate between “RollTide86″ and “BuckeyesTilIDie”? Yes, we all know what high opinions you bluebloods have of your own conferences. Shut up. You sound like inbreds comparing jelly recipes.
Other things I don’t want to hear about will be added to this list as I discover them.
